I think that was the image he would have liked to create for himself, but he wasn’t really as arrogant as he wanted himself to appear from time to time (like when he expressed that he was above everyone else and stuff like that). He had low self esteem and kind of hated himself, but covered it up by trying to convince himself and others that he thought he was better than everyone else. He wasn’t arrogant, at all, and I don’t think that people saw him as an arrogant person either, but judging from some of the things he’s written, some people may find him a bit conceited, even though he wasn’t. So in short, he was not an arrogant person.
